Criteria for Eligibility

  • Be of African-American or Black of African descent
  • Possess a strong work ethic and desire to build a career in the Hospitality/Visitor Industry
  • Be a Miami-Dade County Resident for at least the past 2-years
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident

    Have the minimum GPA requirement:

    Miami Dade College 2.5
    Johnson & Wales University 2.8
    Florida International University 3.0
    Florida Memorial University 2.5
  • Be Committed to work in the Greater Miami-Dade Visitor Industry for at least 2-years following graduation
  • Be Admitted to one of the following Colleges/Universities

Florida International University (FIU) -

  • Beverage Management (BS)
  • Culinary Management (BS)
  • Event Management (AS)
  • Hotel/Lodging Management (BS)
  • Restaurant/Foodservice Management (BS)
  • Travel & Tourism Management (BS)

Florida Memorial University (FMU) -

  • Aviation Administration (BS)

Johnson & Wales University (JWU) -
